The ability of the human body to sustain life and function normally is termed as General Health Essendon. It is also known as Quality of Life. This indicator is used to determine the overall well-being of a person. Generally, this indicator focuses on three domains: physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. However, we can talk about the other dimensions also, if we want to discuss this subject in more detail.
There are many different parameters used to assess the general health of an individual, including, life expectancy, Healthy life expectancy, years of potential life saved (YPLL), (Sustainable past-life expectancy), Mental health status, Self-assessed illness condition, (Lifetime prevalence).. These three domains in turn are correlated with each other and they give rise to several Indicators. For example, YPLL is a very important Indicator for overall mental health and self-assessed condition. A low value implies that a person suffers from several types of illnesses and disorders and has a very poor quality of life. On the other hand, a high value indicates that the person enjoys a very healthy life and suffers from few types of disorders and illnesses.
Beside these domains, there are many other Indicators that indicate the level of general health, depending on the domain selected. Lifetime prevalence of any of these Indicators gives you a clear picture about a person's health. It can be said that SCL is the leading cause of disability in the world. If a person suffers from SCL, he/she cannot lead a normal and healthy life. In addition to this Indicators, healthy life expectancy is the main indicator to assess the health of an individual.
According to Life expectancy calculation method, it is easier to determine the general health status of an individual at different ages. This calculation method is widely used throughout the developed world to assess the level of fitness of an individual. If an elderly person suffers from any disease or illness at an early age, his/her life expectancy is decreased considerably. However, if such an aged person lives a healthy and long life, then his/her life expectancy will be high.
As per another leading cause of death figure, cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world among all the adults ages 18 and above. If the adult suffers from any type of chronic disease at any point in time, it becomes very difficult to reverse the clock back. There are various methods of treatment available for cancer patients. One of them is by use of anti-cancer drugs or therapies.
It is important to note that life expectancy of an individual also depends upon his/her diet. It has been found out that there is considerable difference in the level of intake of healthy food among different age groups. Those who eat healthy food live longer than those who don't. Those who eat healthy food to live a healthy and long life as compared to others who don't.
Lifestyle modification is one of the most effective ways of preventing any kind of chronic diseases or premature deaths. Most of the leading cause of death in the world is associated with obesity. It has been found out that even those who maintain a healthy lifestyle suffer from some kind of chronic diseases at some point of time. It is estimated that those adults who are obese live a relatively short life span, which may be as low as 5 years. Hence, it is important to adopt a healthy and lifestyle-friendly way of living, if we want to enjoy a healthy life expectancy.
Mental disorders include ADD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), bipolar disorder, ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder), OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), and more. The mental disorders are mostly related with a poor diet regime, and less physical activity. The deficiency in nutrition causes a reduction in brain functions including the ability to think and concentrate. Lack of physical activity lowers down the body's immune system, which results in getting more prone to diseases like colds and coughs, and infections. According to studies, people who have a long-term exposure to stress may also suffer from mental disorders. Therefore, it is important for both young and old to take good care of themselves by eating healthy, exercising, avoiding junk food, quitting smoking, reducing their caffeine intakes, and getting enough sleep.
